Basic filter description
The Net.purum filter will register itself to a Web proxy server; and then obtain access to all requests, and to all answers, from web servers. Each request contains information (who made the request, requested server address, content type, file extension etc.).
Net.purum filter settings will be compared for each request; if a user makes a request to a web page from a prohibited category, then this request is not sent to the web server, and the user receives a page from Net.purum. This page shows the Net.purum information regarding the blocking reason.
Referrer information can be also deleted by the Net.purum system. Net.purum can, however, only block cookies or method POST. The administration center can schedule report generating, which contains detailed information about user activity.
MS ISA Web Proxy
The Microsoft Internet Access Security server contains a Web Proxy server, which can be added to custom filters. The installation of Net.purum filter will make a registration to the MS ISA Web Proxy server. Net.purum filter will then appear in the MS ISA Management Console. Net.purum supports MS ISA 2000 or MS ISA 2004.
Net.purum proxy server
Net.purum offers a proxy server, which is recommended for small local networks. This proxy server can recognize users by login name (NTLM authorization), or by IP address. The proxy server has only several basic parameters (listening port, method for user authorization, allowed IP ranges etc.)
