Work with server address

An internal Net.purum database contains server addresses; the system compares all records and uses those records whose path is the best agreement. Only folders, and not actual web pages, can be stored in the Net.purum system.

It means that if a database includes yahoo.com, then all the following addresses are matched: http://shopping.yahoo.com/, http://finance.yahoo.com/, http://finance.yahoo.com/bp.

As you can see, the content can be very different; therefore it is important to insert the exact server address where the content is of an expected category.

If a Net.purum administrator inserts, into a category, a new address such as http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051020/hurricane.asp?ylt=Auh, then Net.purum converts it into news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20051020. This means that only the path to the server folder is stored, this is because there is an expected, similar subject for the whole folder. All other pages from this folder belong to the same category.

Net.purum support special handling of the WWW prefix in a URL. Net.purum searches server addresses in the Net.purum database with and without the WWW prefix.
