About Net.purum

Main structure

Characteristic of Net.purum

The whole application is divided into three parts - server, administration and testing. The server part makes content filtering, using settings which are defined in the administration center. The testing part can be used for settings verification.

Administration center

The administrator of Net.purum can use this user friendly application, from where he can set all the limitations for users from his network. Net.purum can define an automatic update period for: the Net.purum database, applications, database backup, report generating etc.

Testing center

This application finds out the Net.purum filters reaction to a defined situation. The test dialog uses the same procedures as the filter attached to a proxy server; therefore the result should be the same.

User interactivity

If a user tries to open a web page which is blocked, then system shows him the Net.purum page with detailed information about blocking.

User request to change

A user can easily ask for a change in the Net.purum limitation; each blocked page contains a wizard, which can be filled in to request a change. The administrator of Net.purum will be informed about this request, and he can use an application where it can be decided about each request.

Antivirus protection

Certain downloaded files will be tested by the antivirus; the selection of those files depends on the file type. Net.purum uses avast! antivirus from ALWIL Software.

Integration with proxy server

The Net.purum filter works as a Web filter (ISAPI filter), for the MS ISA Web proxy server. It is very easy to include it into an existing network configuration. If the local network doesn’t use a MS ISA server, then Net.purum offers its own integrated proxy server. This integrated proxy server presents a very good option for small networks.

Work with server address

An internal Net.purum database contains server addresses; the system compares all records and uses those records whose path is the best agreement. Only folders, and not actual web pages, can be stored in the Net.purum system.
